Bio
Ilana Shupak’s career got off to an interesting start in sixth grade, when despite being the class “shy kid”, she made her TV debut on “Kids Say The Darndest Things”. That sparked her love of drama club nerdom and being onstage. While a student at Smith College, she combined her passions for wordplay and acting, and started performing stand-up.
Ilana makes wry observations about life, religion, and the “joys” of motherhood, covering taboo-breaking and family-friendly topics alike in her darkly absurd style. Ilana performs in and around NYC, and she produces “Jokes From Underground”, a show which highlights female comics (and other cool folks, too). Ilana lives in Brooklyn, and when she’s not onstage, she is also a dialect coach for actors, and the primary entertainer to her seven year old daughter.
